Description:
20 Bee’s is a large-scale silkscreen installation composed of twenty individual A3 prints, each bearing a uniquely coloured bee, hand-pulled using a single stencil.
Though created using the same matrix, no two bees are identical — every one varies in colour, texture, and mark-making, reflecting both the uniformity and individuality found in nature and community.
Originally intended to be displayed as a 5 x 4 grid, 20 Bee’s presents a visual swarm — ordered, alive, and buzzing with energy.
However, the modularity of the work invites flexibility: the collector may choose to display the prints as a full set, in parts, or even individually.
Created as an ode to Manchester — the artist’s hometown — the bee is a well-known emblem of the city's industrious spirit and communal resilience.
In honour of that spirit, proceeds from the work are intended to support Age Concern UK Manchester, a charity dedicated to improving the lives of older people across the city.
With its bold repetition and distinct individuality, 20 Bee’s is as much about identity and legacy as it is about generosity — a vibrant, meaningful tribute to a place and its people.
