ELMIT Series

Original Silkscreen Series | Mixed Media on Paper | A3

The ELMIT series is a bold and humorous exploration of language, identity, and perception, reclaiming Northern slang and turning it into visual poetry.

In Northern slang, “elmit” (a twist on “helmet”) is a playful jab, used to describe someone a bit slow or out of sync.

This piece reclaims and reframes the term, turning it into a layered metaphor for protection, misunderstanding, and is transformed into a recurring symbol: a helmet-like shape that protects, isolates, and invites reinterpretation.

Every piece in the series invites viewers to reflect on the labels we wear, the shields we build, and how society chooses who’s “in” and who’s “out.”

Each artwork in the series is completely unique but created using the same process:

  • Hand-cut A3 Perspex sheets as silkscreen stencils

  • Individual silkscreen pulls, layer by layer, using a squeegee

  • Variations in ink, texture, and placement ensure no two are the same

The process introduces natural imperfections—ink bleeds, misalignments, and unique textures—making each work distinct and deeply human.

From floating bombs with hearts inside to chaotic colour fields and stark outlines, the series walks a line between humour and existential commentary.

It’s serious work disguised as something silly—much like the word elmit itself.

Each work is:

  • 11.7 in x 16.5 in / A3 (29.7cm x 42cm)

  • Silkscreen and mixed media on heavyweight paper

  • Signed by the artist

  • Includes Certificate of Authenticity

  • Unframed
